At Project Angelus, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information across our website, browser extension, and mobile apps. That includes the Angelus Bell apps for iOS, Apple Watch, and Android.

Our Promise

The Angelus Bell apps and browser extension collect absolutely no personal data. Your privacy is sacred to us.

Our website works a little differently. It uses Google Analytics. It also has two optional forms: a bug report form and an email signup. Each one is explained below.

What Our Apps and Extension Do NOT Collect

Our browser extension, iOS app, Apple Watch app, and Android app do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Usage analytics or app behavior data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Prayer times, preferences, or devotional activities
• Audio recordings or voice data
• Contacts, photos, or other device content

What Our Website Collects

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they find useful. Google Analytics uses cookies. It collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at our site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. Google provides this information to us in reports.

You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Bug Report Form

If you use the bug report form on our Support page, we receive what you enter. That includes the platform, app version, device or browser, a description of the problem, and any steps to reproduce it. Your email address is optional. The form is processed and stored by our website host, Netlify. We use these reports to fix problems. If you include your email, we may use it to follow up with you.

Email Updates

If you join our email list, we collect your email address and, if you give it, your name. We use them only to send Project Angelus updates. MailerLite stores this list for us. Every email has an unsubscribe link. To have your information deleted, email hello@angelusbell.org.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you.

Donations

Donations are made through PayPal. You enter your payment details on PayPal's site, not ours. PayPal's privacy policy applies to your donation. PayPal may share some details with us, such as your name and email address.

How Our Products Work

Angelus Bell iOS & Apple Watch App

• All prayer time notifications (6 AM, noon, 6 PM) are scheduled locally on your device using iOS notification services. These never leave your device.
• Authentic church bell audio files are included within the app and stored locally.
• Your settings (bell selection, notification preferences) are saved locally and never transmitted anywhere.
• Apple Watch complications and notifications sync directly between your iPhone and Apple Watch via Apple's native systems, without our servers involved.

Angelus Bell Android App

• All prayer time notifications (6 AM, noon, 6 PM) are scheduled locally on your device using Android's alarm and notification services. These never leave your device.
• Authentic church bell audio files are included within the app and stored locally.
• Your settings (bell selection, notification preferences) are saved locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere.
• The app does not request or use location, camera, microphone, contacts, or any other sensitive device permissions.

Angelus Bell Browser Extension

• Extension preferences (such as selected prayer times and bell tones) are stored locally in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
• No personally identifiable information is collected from users of the extension on any supported browser.

Use of Cookies

Our website uses cookies set by Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Our mobile apps and browser extension do not use cookies.

Third-Party Services

Our apps and extension do not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

To show feast days, the apps and extension download a public calendar file from Google Calendar. This request does not include any personal information. Like any web request, it does share your IP address with Google.

The iOS app is distributed through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. The Android app is distributed through Google Play and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Our website is hosted by Netlify and loads fonts from Google Fonts. Like any website, these services receive basic request information, such as your IP address, when you visit.

When you join our email list, the signup form sends your email address, and your name if you give it, to MailerLite.

Children's Privacy

The Angelus Bell apps and extension are safe for users of all ages, including children under 13. They collect no personal data from anyone. Our bug report form and email signup are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Our apps and extension collect no data, so there is nothing from them to share. Bug reports you send through our website are stored with Netlify. Email signups are stored with MailerLite. These services process the information for us. We may disclose information only if required by law or to protect the integrity of our service.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The most recent version will always be available at angelusbell.org/privacy.
